Now reborn as The Stroud<\/a>, local historian Pauline Stevens will give an illustrated talk on the fascinating history of the hotel. Built to take advantage of railway travellers and designed by the architect Benjamin Bucknall<\/a>, Pauline will relate some of the many phases the hotel went through and the changing patterns of the buildings which once surrounded it.<\/p>\n She will also throw light on the life and works of Benjamin Bucknall – well known as the architect of Woodchester Mansion. Pauline\u2019s work was used in extensive research which gained The Imperial Hotel its Grade 2 listing.<\/p>\n Copies of Pauline\u2019s newly published book Stroud\u2019s Imperial Hotel and its Neighbours will be on sale by the author.
