A Local Part Completed New Housing Scheme at Lightpill, GL5 3TA
If you have travelled the A46 and watched the new Aldi supermarket transform the Bath Road trading estate at Lightpill, you will have noticed the sad spectacle of The Kites Nest pub falling into disrepair.
During 2019, changes started to appear, hoardings went up, excavations were made alongside the main road, then paused and followed at great speed by the appearance of timber frames and distinctive mono pitch roofs like a saw tooth.
We have the opportunity to visit this significant “brownfield” development. It has topical interest as politicians promise solutions to our housing crisis by producing hundreds of thousands of new homes quickly.
The site is also interesting because it is on a corner of the Daniels estate where re-development of various kinds has been proposed.
Join us for a tour of the new housing development around the former Kites Nest pub and meet the developer Sam Hayman who will conduct the tour and explain the planning, construction and sustainability aspects of this housing scheme.
