A visit to the Incinerator: Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility

February 11, 2020 @ 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Javelin Park, Bath Road, Haresfield, GL10 3ET

If you have travelled along the Standish Road towards Junction 12 of the M5, you will have noticed Gloucestershire’s new waste facility rising from the ground.

Now fully operational, we are going to be one of the first public group of visitors to be given an educational tour.

More than 500 tonnes of residual waste is being turned into electricity each day, to produce in excess of 116,000 megawatt hours each year. This will generate enough energy to power around 25,000 homes while recycling aggregates and metals recovered during processing at the plant. The County Council say that the incinerator will minimise the reliance on landfill in Gloucestershire.

The maximum number allowed on this is visit is 30. There is no charge for this tour.
Note that parts of the tour include walking at height and descending stairs. If you don’t like heights, this tour may not be for you.

To reserve a place, email julietshipman@hotmail.com by January 24th. Confirm at the same time that you have no problem walking at height and descending stairs. Please indicate in your email if you can offer a space in your car or need one.

We look forward to an exciting and interesting visit.
