October 29, 2020 @ 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm

A zoom talk by Fiona James on Thursday 29th October at 7.30pm

In search of the Earthly Paradise: The Homes, Interiors and Gardens of the
Followers of the Arts and Crafts Movement

William Morris and the followers of the Arts and Crafts Movement aimed to model their way of life, their homes, interiors and gardens on a vision of a romanticised Mediaeval world in which they recreated rural communities of craftsmen and women living in harmony with nature.

Evidence of their influence and ideas can be found in towns and villages all over England but we are particularly fortunate to have examples of the Arts and Crafts way of life here in the South Cotswolds. In this well illustrated talk Fiona will consider how the Arts and Crafts followers shaped their environment to create a paradise on earth in the Cotswolds.
