An Illustrated Talk by Pauline Stevens

Now reborn as The Stroud, local historian Pauline Stevens will give an illustrated talk on the fascinating history of the hotel. Built to take advantage of railway travellers and designed by the architect Benjamin Bucknall, Pauline will relate some of the many phases the hotel went through and the changing patterns of the buildings which once surrounded it.
She will also throw light on the life and works of Benjamin Bucknall – well known as the architect of Woodchester Mansion. Pauline’s work was used in extensive research which gained The Imperial Hotel its Grade 2 listing.
Copies of Pauline’s newly published book Stroud’s Imperial Hotel and its Neighbours will be on sale by the author. Price £12 (cash only)

Drinks may be purchased at the bar and taken into the Function Room.
The new owners of the old Imperial Hotel discovered some interesting old photographs in the cellars during restoration work. These will be on display.
